Why I am running
I am deeply committed to the important role that public education has in maintaining an inclusive democracy, something that we clearly have to fight for every day. I also genuinely love learning! I believe that every student deserves to experience the thrill that comes with understanding something they didn’t previously know.
My passion for education, engagement in the community, and professional experience will benefit the Watertown School Committee. Below are a few of the initiatives I have been involved with through the schools and community organizations in Watertown over the last five years:
Watertown Rapid Response Network (2025-present)
Lowell Diversity Council Caregiver Rep (2022-present)
Lowell School Garden Volunteer (2021-present)
Watertown Community Foundation Grant for Listen to Sipu (2023)
Watertown Library Director Search Committee (2022)
Watertown APPLE (Advancing Parent Professional Leadership in Education) (2022)
Kingian Nonviolence Conflict Reconciliation Training (2022)
DEI Director Search Committee (2021)
WPS Equity Leaders Team (2021)
Watertown Community for Black Lives School Equity and Police Reform Groups (2021-2023)
I look forward to hearing more about your hopes for our schools and expectations of our leadership. Please email me at sheila4wps@gmail.com or visit my ‘Get Involved’ page for other ways to engage.
